In a recent project, I had the pleasure of returning to a place that has become like a second home to me—Three Ashes, Herefordshire. Over a decade ago, I had the privileg of hand-painting the kitchen in this stunning barn conversion. Since then, I’ve been invited back a few times to refresh and enhance the space, and each visit feels like reconnecting with an old friend.

This time, my clients had expanded the kitchen with additional cupboard cabinets and new drawer fronts. To keep everything cohesive and maintain the flawless finish I originally created, a full repaint was needed. The kitchen, occupying a spacious wing of their barn, was both an exciting challenge and a dream to work on. With its open-plan design, the space needed careful consideration to maintain a harmonious flow. Thankfully, the clients had already done an exceptional job of zoning the area into functional sections, with distinct spaces for cooking, dining, and two elegant lounge areas.

For this refresh, they chose my signature “Opulence” paint finish, which combines my bespoke, hand-painted technique with multiple layers of lacquer. The result is a sophisticated, low-sheen surface that’s not only beautiful but incredibly durable—ensuring the kitchen will continue to “live” for years to come.

The transformation is nothing short of spectacular, and the clients are beyond thrilled with the refreshed look of their kitchen.
